Location: Hengelo, Netherlands Product Owner BI Enterprise Information Management (EIM) 0,8 - 1 FTE ‘The goal is to turn data into information and information into insight’ The Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team of Thales in the Netherlands is looking for an experienced Product Owner BI to further professionalize information management. About Enterprise Information Management Thales in the Netherlands has committed to the objective to become a ‘data-driven company’, where facts and unambiguous information are leading in decision making. Thales Nederland has 10 experts in Business Intelligence, 3 experts on Data Management and 3 roles to support an agile way of working within the team. Together, they deliver services in the area of Data Analytics, Business Intelligence and all aspects of Data Management. As a team, they provide centralized reporting and data management services to all colleagues within Thales Nederland. This team plays a crucial role in the ambition of Thales Nederland to become a data-driven organization in a changing digital environment. The team operates independently and is responsible for all BI and data related aspects. Your contribution to the team: Work closely together with stakeholders and understand their use cases and functional requirements. Create a clear roadmap that is sustainable and aligned with the business. Pursue optimal performance and availability through continuous improvement. Create and manage a well-defined backlog for the team that has a balance between business demand, enablers and continuous improvement. Create product visions. Create synergy between the products and standardize as much as possible. Work closely together with Thales Group, IS/IT teams (e.g. Service Integration, ITSM, Product Lifecycle Management, Infrastructure teams) and suppliers to manage dependencies and learn from each other. About your future job As the Product Owner for the Enterprise Information Management team you are the connection between several business- and group stakeholders and your team. You work together to maintain, improve and deliver different kind of BI solutions and data analytics. You are responsible for what, why, and in what order something is done by the EIM team to standardize, modernize and digitalize our BI reporting and data warehousing landscape. Your typical day starts with a brief standup with the team in which you update each other and define actions. During standups team members discuss what went well, what could be improved and where they still need help. Afterwards, take your time with a cup of coffee to work on some e-mails and questions. You will meet with different stakeholders to discuss changes. Then, it is time to work on the roadmap and prioritize the backlog within the BI domain. You will work closely with the EIM Manager, Data Governance Managers and the Data Architect. Expected activities and typical outputs from the job are: Deliver business results and customer value. Delivering on specific and measurable KPIs to be defined for the team. Serve as the voice of customer or end-user. Translating the voice and needs of customer into user stories, engaging users as needed. Engaging in continuous discovery (e.g., via surveys interviews) to understand customer needs. Leveraging empirical and qualitative data to assess feature performance and inform prioritization. Proactively seeking customer feedback to learn and better understand their needs and requirements. Facilitating product demos to empower team members with real-time feedback from customers. Prioritizing work through a well-organized backlog of user stories and clearly communicating what needs to be done and by when. Defining and clearly communicating acceptance criteria for output based on business customer needs Support and enabling the team to get its work done. Regularly engaging with the team to offer feedback on work-in-progress and clarify requirements. Engaging with EIM Manager regarding resourcing and functional expertise required in the team. Working closely with the EIM Manager to understand and drive alignment on the BI business strategy, goals, and objectives. Translating BI objectives into a clear vision (e.g., via KPIs, sprint goals) for your team to inform the creation and prioritization of the teams's backlog of work. Sharing information about the BI output and priorities with other Product Owners to ensure alignment across the organization. We are looking for a colleague who: Has bachelor or master degree. Has at least 5 years of working experience within a large / complex organization. Has experience with agile working and fulfilling the role of Product Owner, certification is a plus. Has demonstrable knowledge of data warehousing and reporting and has a vision on this. Has experience with BI reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Has an eye and ear for developments in the organization and the role of data/intelligence therein. Has analytically strong and result oriented. Has excellent communication skills and have organizational sensitivity. Is enthusiastic, driven and have the power of persuasion and know how to use this in your communication with stakeholders. Is a team player that will work well in a cross functional team environment. Is flexible, stress-resistant and organizationally strong. Is fluent in English.
