IT-Engineering Support (IT EngSup) is part of the IS/IT department of Thales Netherlands. The IT Engineering Support chapter (following the Spotify model) consist of 30 enthusiastic IT engineers and Consultants divided in three self-managing squads working together closely using the Agile way of working. The chapter consists of systems-, software-, and IT architects, application specialists and infrastructure specialists. We collect requirements, validate them against security protocols design solutions and implement them together with the end users, but also with the other IS/IT squads. We maintain our own products and projects and are involved with the latest IS/IT developments within the Thales Group. About the job The day begins with a stand-up in which the squad assesses what they have achieved yesterday, what they are going to do today, and if they experience or foresee impediments. After the stand-up you’ll start working on deploying or improving the tooling and providing support to engineers. You are continuously working on the improvement of collaboration, within your own squad, but also between other squads. Following the Scrum principles, you work with the squad in two-weekly sprints in which you provide Software Engineers with new tooling - mostly based on Linux - and supporting them in optimizing and/or automating of the use of those tools. Within these activities you’ll be responsible for: automation of existing and future processes and applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux with Puppet and Ansible; supporting software engineers with their CI/CD workflows and/or pipelines; the roll-out and maintenance of tools in close collaboration with Engineering Support teams in other Thales countries; having an active role in developing interfaces between different tools and Engineering disciplines; actively introducing new technologies for the benefit of the team; working together with the Linux team and the team responsible for Systems Engineering Applications About you We are looking for a new colleague with: a technical (IT/Engineering) education background; at least 3 years of experience in a similar role/job; knowledge about deploying and managing engineering applications like Jenkins, Nexus, Bitbucket and SonarQube; experience with automation via Puppet and Ansible; experience with deploying and maintaining MySQL and PostgreSQL databases; interest in containers (Docker, Podman) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Rancher); extensive knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (6/7/8) systems; experience with shell scripting and ansible; a customer-oriented attitude and good communication skills; good problem solving abilities and persistence; good command of English, both written and oral.
