[What the role is] As a tax professional, you have tax knowledge at your fingertips and the passion to build a socially responsible taxpaying community. You will use your resourcefulness, strong communication skills and creativity to provide a suite of personal income tax services including taxpayer assessment, education and tax audit. [What you will be working on] • This role formulates and reviews Personal Income Tax policies and tax rules to keep our tax system competitive, robust, progressive and fair. • Officer works with MOF and internal stakeholders e.g. InTP and LawD to support the annual budget cycle, legislative amendment processes and related website updates for IITD. • It handles requests for advanced rulings on Individual Income Tax treatments and provides advice on technical interpretation of tax provisions and their application to actual cases. [What we are looking for] • Leads 2-3 technical review projects and/or environmental scanning projects in a year; and able to recommend appropriate changes to tax law, rules and review approach to issues, taking into account policy considerations and operational concerns. • Coordinates and provides inputs relating to budget and off-budget changes proposed by MOF as well as related legislative amendments, to ensure that the changes take into account operational needs and can be smoothly implemented. • Handles more complex rulings applications and manage tax agents and taxpayers in the process. • Advises on the approach to issue cases requiring the interpretation of law, encountered by operational teams and where needed, formulates guidance for staff in the form of Practice Notes instructions.
