Are you passionate about supporting your community? About the role We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Thrift Shop Manager! You will assist the Thrift Shop Manager to lead and develop the stores to maximize profits and strengthen links between thrift shops, Community Support Service, wider community and Corps. This role will have supervisory responsibilities of volunteers Responsibilities include Maximise sales and revenue through processing of donations to the store by receiving, sorting, pricing, hanging of saleable goods and disposal of non-saleable goods Implement stock rotation and stock management processes to ensure optimal store stock levels are maintained to maximize sales and revenue Deliver excellence in customer service by responding to customer needs Support in the recruitment, maintenance and direction of an excellent volunteer/employee force that run the store efficiently Assist and coordinate Work for the Dole, State Debt Recovery or other similar community or corporate volunteer resource programs Provide training, guidance, direction and feedback to all volunteers Support the sister Thrift Shop in Leopold when required This is a fixed-term part-time position, for 12 months, 13 hours per week, based in Ocean Grove, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with General Retail Industry Award Level 4. You will have Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business is desirable Certificate level qualification in Retail Management desirable Experience in team management is essential Merchandising and store presentation skills Experience managing stock Retail management experience is highly desirable Experience working and managing volunteers preferred Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel A current VIC Driver's Licence Physical ability to safely sit, stand, walk regularly and for long periods of time Physical ability to push, pull, lift, carry items up to 10 kilos in weight Physical ability to climb ladders Benefits of working at The Salvation Army Employee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling service Discounted health and fitness programs through Fitness Passport An inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate and professional team members Positively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contribution Applications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is secured.
