The Centre for Urban Greenery and Ecology (CUGE), a division of the National Parks Board, carries out application-focussed research in various aspects of urban greenery and ecology, including arboriculture, urban ecosystems, sustainable landscaping and how people interact with greenery. Our vision is to be the regional centre for advancing and sharing knowledge in the use of greenery and ecology to enhance our tropical urban living environment. [What you will be working on] As part of the research team at CUGE, you will focus on scoping and managing research projects pertaining to urban ecology and ecosystems. Specifically, your duties include: Developing projects relating to urban ecology and/ or using geospatial application as a solution to urban challenges. Managing research and other projects at CUGE, as assigned. Advising on the translation of ecological sciences into policy, as needed. Directly carrying out urban ecosystems and geospatial application research, as needed. [What we are looking for] Degree, Master or PhD in an area relevant to physical geography or ecology (landscape, urban, freshwater). Good organizational and administrative skills Good interpersonal and communication skills Pro-active, independent, and able to work as a team Able to multi-task, and has an eye for details Preferably, candidates should possess: Demonstrated track record in quantifying ecosystem services and/ or urban ecological processes Demonstrated track record in using Geographic Information Systems/ Remote Sensing as a research tool. Demonstrated track record in working with multiple stakeholders (e.g. government agencies, vendors, academia etc.). Project management and/or research grant experience Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Successful candidates will be offered a 9-month employment contract.
