The Principal Project Manager will be accountable for the main sinking contractor’smining scope of work (contractual leadership), which will require the managing, directing and leading of the execution of this scope, in conjunction with the Employers site team.

The scope of the Principal Project Manager will also include primary surface and underground construction scope, linked to critical production milestones, being executed by major contractors. The role will also be accountable for off-site SIB Projects falling within the ambit of the Venetia Underground Project, which primarily includes accommodation projects in Musina.Principal Project Manager will oversee the EPCM’s interfaces and the execution of their scope, which will include engineering packaging, procurement, project management, integration and contractual management support in consultation with the EPCM, site and home office leadership.
The role involves fostering strategic relationships and integrated execution approaches with the EPCM, all UG Construction Contractors and the Integrated Owners Team.Key responsibilities include:Takes personal accountability for the Safety Leadership strategies for the VUP, exemplifying and instilling a culture of Zero Harm within the team with a meticulous focus on health, safety, environmental and security strategies.Accountable for the mining contract falling under the management of the owner’s representative (NEC Project manager / Lead Planner) and the contract management team (Quantity Surveyor and contract administrator). The accountability includes the oversight of contract administration, ad-hoc sub projects, procurement, engineering, procurement, cost, scheduling and temporary construction activities associated with this contract. The role requirescollaborative efforts with the Employer’s site team to successfully deliver the technical and commercial aspects of the contract.Ensures that the necessary permitting, approvals, authorisations are in hand to enable construction and commissioning.Proactively facilitates and directs the analysis of designs, constructability reviews, schedule conflicts and the prioritisation of risks, opportunities, problem solving, alternative approaches and recommendations to successfully deliver the various packages both technically and commercially.Reports on the above packages/contracts to various internal and external stakeholders (refer to role relationships) on contractor performance, package status, budgets, contract health. Package status reports to be in accordance with the Project Communications Management Plan and EPCM package reporting requirements.Actively collaborates and integrates with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and Venetia Mine leadership teams (refer to role relationships) on integration matters, resource allocation, scope prioritisation and P101 initiatives affecting design, construction, commissioning, operational readiness and handover.Identifies and pro-actively manages all changes and deviations, through the relevant project Change Management Process and recommend course of action to mitigate schedule and cost risks.
