Principal Network Engineer You are a problem solver with a strong background in Networks We are a growing team within the bank and constantly involved in industry changing solutions Together we place customers at the centre of what we do Do work that matters The Secure Network Services team in CBA Technology is responsible for world-leading application of technology and operations across every single aspect of CommBank – from innovative product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business. As a member of the Secure Network Services team, you will be a subject matter expert in your field who will work across the organisation to architect, influence and lead the development and design of network services. You are expected to contribute to roadmaps and continually evolve how network services are delivered and use your experience to support troubleshoot user impacting incidents where required See yourself in our team Our team is responsible for delivering leading network services that enable teams to work anywhere, anytime and anyway to achieve leading business outcomes. We are responsible for connectivity end to end across the entire CBA branch corporate network environment covering Australia and its international office locations. You will work alongside the Product Owners, Service Managers, Architects and other engineering experts to solve complex problems across the user connectivity and security domains. You will be exposed to technologies from traditional network vendors (Palo Alto, CISCO, Riverbed) whilst incorporating the best of open-source software to reshape and redefine how network services are developed and supported. You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager with the autonomy to develop and learn in the role. You will be required to bring your best self to ensure the network services across the Network portfolio is best in class. We’re interested in hearing from people who Can provide thought leadership to evolve and maintain network services Can create product roadmaps, network architectures and service documentation that incorporates the latest and emerging trends Can drive and implement automation solutions to enabling network self-service consumption. Can develop and supporting program to enable Zero Trust security architecture Can develop and mentor engineers to improve their skills to support them in performing their best Can build best in class network operations model Tech skills We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team; Good experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of network systems Experience presenting to complex technical solutions to senior stakeholders Experience taking a lead role in building complex network systems that have been successfully delivered to customers Demonstrated Network experience of around 10+ years as an Engineer, configuring and supporting networks (firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points) Experience implementing, performing network administration and support of Software Defined Network (SD-WAN , SD-LAN) technologies. Good experience with network scripting and automation skills such as API scripting, PowerShell scripting, Web hook integration, Ansible, Python, Net DevOps and CI/CD pipeline creation etc. Experience in development and deployment of network and security policies like QoS, firewall, IDS/IPS, URL filtering, NAC. Experience working in large enterprise Experience in Windows and Linux Systems Preferred Skills: Project and Service Management of network services Architecture Certification ( eg TOGAF ) Experience working in an multi-vendor outsource environment with Financial Services organisations Knowledge of software engineering practices best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding best practices Hands on experience in a people leadership role.
