Position Summary We are looking for a hardworking, intellectually curious individual to play the role of Senior Technical Lead. This role requires the said individual to play the role of a seasoned engineer driving the design and implementation of innovative technologies within a high-performance team as well as embracing line management responsibilities for a team of engineers. This position requires close collaboration with Engineering Managers, Product Owners and Delivery Managers to understand business requirements, design and develop technical solutions that are aligned with the business and platform strategy of the organization. The ideal candidate shall demonstrate an in-depth understanding of all architectural code-level dependencies related to the modules/services being worked on and where necessary help troubleshoot complex support issues/incidents. Senior Technical leads should also be prepared to engage in various SDLC roles including the scrum master role and architecture owner of multiple software components they are working on. Role Responsibilities Software Design Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain complex Java-based applications and services using industry-standard methodologies and tools. Strategic Teamwork: Work with functional specialists, understand business processes and translate functional specifications into technical requirements. Software Development Lifecycle: Engage actively from requirements gathering and design to the final stages of testing and deployment, ensuring solutions meet the highest standards. Testing: Assure the quality of software being developed with adequate level of unit, component, and end-to-end testing as necessary, guaranteeing applications are functional robust. Proactively solve production issues, deduce root causes, and implement timely fixes or workarounds. Delivery: Lead individual project priorities and target commitments. Quality Assurance: Perform code/peer reviews static-code-analysis to ensure application meets or exceeds specified standards and objectives to achieve desired level of quality. Technical Expertise: Demonstrates depth of knowledge and expertise in software design and development to act as the SME in working domain, mentor junior developers on a day-to-day basis. Required Skills and Experience Key Technical Skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to convert business use cases and problems into technical solutions. Sound knowledge in design/architecture patterns. Extensive hands-on experience in: Core Java language constructs, data structures, exception handling, etc. relational databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL with proficiency in data-modelling, SQL, ORM, JPA, etc. unit component test frameworks such as JUnit/TestNG/Jmockit/Mockito advance troubleshooting debugging skills DevOps (CI/CD) and automation tools - e.g. Jenkins/GitLab/similar. one or more cloud platforms – AWS (preferred), Azure or GCP building and deploying containerized solution with Kubernetes/Docker or a similar technology. microservices and REST APIs using static (and dynamic) code analysis tools such as SonarQube, Coverity, etc. Hands on experience in working on performance optimizations, JVM Profiling. Hands on experience in Java multi-threading concurrency. Sound understanding in SDLC standards industry best practices. Agile development processes (SCRUM and Kanban) Other Skills Strong communication, presentation, documentation and interpersonal skills Ability to self-manage and work independently in a fast-paced environment with dynamic requirements and priorities Proven abilities to motivate and lead teams to meet delivery quality commitments. Ability to work against tight objectives/deadlines. Advantageous Skills Experience in FinTech with an understanding of financial market domain would be great addition. Experience in playing the role of Scrum Master Experience in working with complex, highly distributed data intensive systems. Familiarity with technologies/frameworks such as: Spring Boot Cucumber/JBehave/Karate, etc. for BDD testing Redis, Hazelcast, EH cache, etc. for in-memory caching. Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, etc. for event streaming message brokering. Experience in UI technologies/frameworks such as TypeScript, Angular, React, Node. Experience in No-SQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB. Experience in Scheduling Orchestration technologies such as Apache Airflow, Control-M, etc. Experience in Workflow automation technologies such as IBM BAW. Qualifications Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics or IT related field or equivalent IT related experience. Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Java development, with at least 2 year experience in a similar capacity. Significant exposure to end-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) process – requirements analysis to post production support.
