Job title: Senior Tech Developer Primary Location: Worthing, UK Job purpose: This role will be site based and will provide technical analysis and development of solutions in support of the Manufacturing processes and will manage the deployment, testing, validation, performance, operations and continuous support and improvement of all MSAT, Engineering and Manufacturing applications within each Manufacturing Excellence and Quality and Lab Product team. This role requires a balance of business process understanding and technical breadth and an ability to operate in a flexible and agile way to drive efficiency and improvements to the Manufacturing, MSAT, Engineering, Quality and Lab Products. The role has increased complexity of geographies, user bases (internal and external to GSK) and a large mix of technology and business process understanding. Key Responsibilities: Dev Focused: Leads development and delivery of platform / product strategy Management of vendor partnerships and relationships with non Tech teams Leads delivery of major platform deployments / expansion Leads development of new products / features / fixes / technical solutions Manages the interactions with innovation teams and the communication / inclusion of the site Identification of opportunities and delivery of solutions to improve products, systems, interfaces, business processes and performance by effectively exploiting technology to meet business objectives. Ensures continuity of business execution through ensuring applications within Manufacturing Excellence Products are: Fit for purpose (e.g. easy to use and reliable) and support the evolving business processes Are cost effective – Total cost of ownership is at an optimal level Meets an agreed Risk Profile (e.g. aging of technologies, controlled regarding regulated applications, aligned with business continuity). Leads in troubleshooting applications across multiple technology domains, products and business areas. Ops Focused: Manages operational issues across site. Engages with site tiered accountability process; and participate in Tech Performance Management processes Provision of 1st line support for Manufacturing Excellence Products Management of Site product instance monitoring backlog requests Drives service optimisation for Manufacturing products at a site level Management of local manufacturing / quality partnerships (own manage elements of Risk, Quality and Compliance management) Identification of value and improvement opportunities (understands the products to maximise the value created through those applications for site and ensures effective use of them) Leads feature release co-ordination / installation Leads Site product instance configuration and deployment, enable continuous deployments and improvements Controls Lifecycle Management for services owned by Site Tech Leads Site archiving and decommissioning activities for systems that have reached the end of their lifecycle Leads in troubleshooting of applications across multiple technology domains, products and business areas. Provides ‘Technical’ and ‘Business awareness’ support to the Site Tech team to enable the appropriate definition and priorities of Tech Systems for the Site Basic qualifications: Strong conceptual thinking, modelling, analytical and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills Strong relationship building, team working and influencing skills High learning agility - ability to learn and adapt to new concepts, systems, and software independently and quickly Experience in a manufacturing environment with a good understanding of manufacturing principles and practices. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle Good knowledge and understanding of IT systems and how they apply to supported business areas. Knowledge of systems/software development methodologies and system architectures Good communications in English, sufficiency to build and maintain organizational support Experience in support and / or development of IT systems Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Ability to plan own work to meet objectives, and to work independently. Experience in working with relational Databases (e.g. SQL Server or Oracle) and the ability to develop SQL queries Knowledge of MS Windows Operating Systems, MS SQL Server Databases Knowledge and experience in supporting Manufacturing shop floor systems. Preferred qualifications: Holder of ITIL Foundation certificate Experience with Validated Computer Systems Knowledge and understanding of information security risks, corrective and preventative measures and threat management Experience in working with OPC technology, Computer Programming and Interfaces, Automation Systems Holder of IT project management qualification OE Green Belt certification / demonstrated application of working with Six Sigma/Lean Sigma processes and tools. VFQ Level 1 Certified Defines, develops and deploys appropriate solutions and designs to drive efficiency and value to the Manufacturing Products and in response to business needs Provides technical support to in the resolution of issues impacting manufacturing operations Leads Root Cause Problem Analysis to identify and resolve underlying issues Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, sites, to understand, deploy and maintain solutions.
