The Global Primary Markets team is responsible for the origination of capital across the debt, equity and funds asset classes, helping companies to grow and scale. This is achieved by raising LSEG visibility globally, innovating with our customers and looking for efficiencies to improve productivity. As part of the Capital Markets Division, the team provides data, reports and analysis to internal colleagues including Senior Management, Product Business Development, Finance Press. The team also publish external reports on the LSE Website as well providing reports to industry bodies and regulators as well as to LSE issuers directly. The role requires analysis understanding of both primary and secondary market data to provide a combination of regular and ad hoc data/reports. The team uses multiple internal external sources of data and focuses on effective management of data and automated reporting analysis. Key Responsibilities Support relevant business areas, across all capital markets areas; Primary Secondary Markets on Equity/ETPs/Fixed Income, with data and statistics on a regular and ad-hoc basis through automated and manual reports Support the development and production of new analysis and reports for senior management Work closely with business technology teams to identify and resolve any data issues which may impact reporting; this includes understanding upcoming business changes which could impact the data warehouse and reporting tools Identify and assist in the development and implementation of new processes, reports and systems Utilise technical and analytic skills to ensure coordinated, accurate and consistent data reporting across the group. Usage of SQL and business intelligence tools (mainly Business Objects) to query the data warehouse, build and maintain reports as well as investigate data issues Additional opportunity to provide analysis on global capital markets, with specific emphasis on deals data (for example IPOs), trading statistics, equity performance, valuations, and shareholder analysis Utilise data sources (e.g. Refinitiv Workspace, Lipper, Bloomberg, Dealogic), in order to provide high quality support, including crafting proactive informative analysis, to the Primary Markets team and wider teams across LSE Plc Efficiently build and run reports derived from sophisticated datasets to advance the Primary Markets team’s core business objectives Engage in product and policy analysis to continue to enhance the competitiveness of UK capital markets Collaborate with other teams both in LSE Plc and the Colombo Capital Markets division, reflecting our core LSEG values. Required Skills and Experience Communication impact: Projects personal credibility and expertise, with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the financial services industry High quality verbal and written communication with the ability to deliver data and analysis to colleagues across the business and across the globe Handles expectations, maintains regular client/colleague contact to keep them informed on progress, issues and timetables, considers stated requisites and anticipates requirements Always follows up and delivers on action points agreed with clients and colleagues Analysis and problem solving: High level of accuracy and attention to detail Assimilates information and identifies the pertinent points quickly Analyses issues to identify the most commercial, realistic and pragmatic solutions Proficiency in SQL and usage of business intelligence tools, including Business Objects Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is advantageous to analyse complex data and present insights Proactively identifies ways to improve products and/or services and procedures resulting in product/procedure improvements and efficiency Delivery: Demonstrating the drive and energy to achieve our goals Committed to high standards of excellence; sets thorough and stretching targets Ability to manage time and prioritise tasks accordingly Has a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Carries out work without prompting or close supervision Shares information across teams, departments and functions and actively seeks information and input from colleagues and clients Candidates with the following background are preferred: Demonstrable experience building sophisticated reports in Business Objects Demonstrable experience of SQL is also a minimum requirement Excellent knowledge of MS Office products with sophisticated Excel usage Experience in VBA and other Business Intelligence tools such Power BI / Tableau / Salesforce would be a plus A good understanding of and proven experience of working with primary and secondary market data, especially trading data and instrument reference data is required. Exposure to equity or fixed income markets is helpful Bachelors degree (or equivalent) Preferably previous work experience within the following types of institutions: banks, brokers, fund managers, rating agencies or market data vendors Excellent numerical ability, experience in analysis of data and reports research and report production The ability to work independently with excellent time management and be able to priorities tasks and adapt to unexpected changes A confident communicator, able to interact with contacts at all levels both internally and externally An interest in financial markets is essential LSEG is a leading global financial markets infrastructure and data provider.
