Primary Purpose of the Role: As a Field Services Engineer, you will be responsible for the deployment, setting to work and in service support of Sonar and or Electronic Warfare Systems deployed on Royal Navy and export customers Ships / Submarines. Principal Relationships: Accountable through the Field Services Manager to the Head of Field Services Engineering Other Field Services Engineers in your team Other Field Service Managers and teams within the department Project teams: Programme Managers Service Delivery Managers Key Responsibilities and Tasks: Be responsible for the Health and Safety of all Thales activities carried out by you and comply with the following: Risk Assessments COSHH Assessments Safe systems of work Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms in Defect Rectification: Conduct and Supervise Front-line support including Fault diagnosis and testing as well as acceptance trials both in harbour and at sea Provide On-Call telephone support to our customers (Once at a suitable level of knowledge) Write site visit reports Support to both Royal Navy and Export Platforms Maintenance Periods / Refits: Conduct Pre-Upkeep Maintenance Assessment (PUMA) inspections Conduct scheduled maintenance activities Escalate engineering issues to the Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as required Write post maintenance reports Weekly reports to the Service Delivery Manager Field Services Manager or Service Delivery Manager as required: Activities undertaken Upcoming activities Successes, challenges, opportunities Identification of your own personal and professional development Compliance with all export control rules and regulations including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) You will also perform additional ad-hoc duties that will arise from time to time that are consistent with the nature of this position Key performance Indicators against Responsibilities and Tasks: This role and the Field Service Engineering Team is continually monitored for performance and some of the following Key performance indicators (KPI’s) will be used: Quality of work produced against agreed standards. Delivery to timescales Delivery to budget Performance against Thales key values Performance against mandatory training and the development of team competence in Thales Sonar and Electronic Warfare Systems About you Skills: Demonstrable experience in conducting installations and or support engineering preferably in a maritime environment: Demonstrable knowledge of complex systems Able to use a range of IT tools Experience: As a Field Services Engineer you will have a track record of performing in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably dealing with Complex Systems (Electrical, Electronic and Hydraulic). You must be capable of resolving issues and problems. You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in the spoken and written word. Your experience will demonstrate your high level of self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital.
