We'd love to speak to you! We're looking for someone to become a key part of a team with a proven track record for delivering firmware for a wide range of land, sea and air based defence related products. We're looking for someone with a proven demonstrable record of Digital Hardware and / or Firmware design activities with relevance to the role, working in and or / leading small development teams, and Knowledge of the relevant markets: defence, security and aerospace The role will offer experience over a number of different product areas, encompassing everything from product design and development through to larger scale platform integration and will be focussed around the core skills associated with a Digital Hardware / Firmware Engineer The key focus will be the profitable delivery of the projects / products, whilst allowing for the increase in capability of skills from suitable candidates. Key details Line management by ISR Digital Team Lead Routine tasking by work package, product line or project managers Working closely within an integrated project or product line team Key Tasks Decomposition and interpretation of system requirements algorithms Design and develop firmware using Hardware Description Languages or High Level Synthesis Languages Simulation and analysis Verify firmware using Hardware Description languages or Hardware Verification Languages Integration of firmware on the target hardware Test, measurement, debug and verification (digital) Design Assurance (Complex Electronics) Technical assistance to production About you... Digital electronic design in hardware development language (VHDL) Implementation of complex designs DSP techniques Implementation of algorithms Simulation of designs Knowledge of RF processing techniques An excellent understanding of the fundamentals of High speed digital design A working knowledge of Signal Integrity Issues A working knowledge of Microprocessors, programmable devices, DSP, FPGA, memory Knowledge of PCB design constraints CAD tools: Mentor HDL Designer for VHDL entry, Mentor Graphics ModelSim for Verification, Xilinx Vivado / ISE Nice to haves Experience modelling of algorithms in Matlab/Simulink Experience using Xilinx 7 series, Ultrascale + Experience using Verification Methodology: UVM Experience using scripting languages: TCL, PERL, Python Experience of design for manufacture / test / support Experience using Agile techniques / Lean Engineering CAD Tools: Cadence DE HDL for schematic capture, Matlab/Simulink, Altera Quartus II Desirable Knowledge of DO-254 Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware Product development experience for commercial markets A relevant degree or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline (Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronic, or Communications), supported by 5+ years of relevant experience.
