, India Job Family Group: Research and Development Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: May 24, 2022 Business unit: Projects and Technology Experience Level: Early Careers Job Description: This role is Associate Researcher also the DCS operator who have responsibilities for pilot plants/Bench scale units operators. He/She plays a responsible operations role in all facets of IH2® RD experimental programs and related planning, execution safe delivery of RD experimental programme while ensuring compliance with environmental, health and safety policies. Works with Team Lead, Manager, Site Operations and Engineer(s) to plan and schedule all plant operations. Purpose Accountabilities: The primary purpose of the job is to conduct all pilot plant operational and maintenance activities and provide data analysis support for process units in the area biomass conversion via the IH2® technology. The selected candidate will work on the pilot plant in shift operation for advancing the RD goals and supporting the business/customer needs. Projects will be related to biomass feed handling, feedstock characterization, testing of catalysts and feedstocks, testing of hydrocarbon liquids, analysis of char, modification and commissioning of the pilot units. Projects execution will require demonstration of skill operation, trouble shooting, and planning and implementation of tasks. Knowledge of operation of DCS systems, safety protocol for pilot units with hydrogen systems, understanding of mechanical functions of engineering equipment and liquid hydrocarbon related analytical techniques will be very helpful for carrying out the responsibilities smoothly. Key is ensuring smooth operation, high data quality, and prompt reporting of test results. HSSE Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety policies and objectives Adhering and following standard procedures of IH2 like Operation Philosophy, Ensure Safe Production, Standing Instruction, SOP, MOC, Overrides. Maintain appropriate standards at facilities, ensuring compliance with management systems, procedures, local and global standards Be fully aware of sites hazards, controls and recovery measures Ensure communication with TL, Site operation manger, Maintenance Lead plant operators in regard to change in activities in line with agreed Ops communication plan. During Emergency scenarios as Incident Co-Ordinator IC for IH2 Bench scale plant communicating/coordinating with ECC DCS for safe Shutdown of plant. The main responsibilities for this position are: Plan, supervise and execute activities in shift operation for performing experiments in pilot-scale process units supporting the operational lead. Execute experimental programs in cooperation with activity lead/ Operational Lead Extract data from process plant units and assist in development of data analysis protocol for providing quality data from the unit Able to perform maintenance operations on the bench-scale plant in compliance with the STCB HSSE regulations, also including documentation requirements. Performing start up, steady state and shut down activities as per agreed schedule and documenting the activities. Diagnose equipment performance and relay the information to activity lead Check equipment for possible problems during shift rounds. Recommend and maintain preventative maintenance or repairs schedule for bench-scale plant. Maintain solid feed, catalyst and hydrocarbon liquid on-site inventory at an agreed level to ensure continuous operations. Monitors computerized plant control system and report results to the activity lead. Supervise feedstock characterization and execute the feed preparation workflow Prepare and review, standard operating procedures, JHAs, TRAs, MOCs, etc. Request permits within the permit to work system and perform/supervise the execution activities adhering to the permit to work system Review and implement operation, shift handover and safety protocol/procedures with concerned teams to ensure continuous and safe operation of process equipment Lead activities related to maintenance of units, like commissioning, modifications (MOC), and troubleshooting Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and demonstrate improvement via implementation of the same Contribute to effective functioning of the team through appropriate individual contribution, team working and communication behavior Display creativity in finding non-standard solutions, and show keenness to innovate. Daily Job Tasks: Plan the RD activities by engaging with operational lead for business delivery. Extract data from process plant units and assist operational lead for the data analysis protocol for providing quality data from the unit. Assist to maintain on-site inventory at an agreed level to ensure continuous operations. Ensures periodic plant rounds checking equipment for possible problems, sampling, and other assigned duties Execute the recommended preventative maintenance or repair and ensures required maintenance/calibration is scheduled in a timely manner Assist for troubleshoots process problems and execute appropriate corrective action, on own and in conjunction with operational Lead Prepare handover shift change information with / between Plant Operators Direct supervision of work performed by vendors and contractors, can will issue permits for non-emergency work Should have knowledge on storing and disposing of the laboratory chemicals. Lead operators will review all new procedures as part of training MOC and have input into new procedures Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and demonstrate improvement via implementation of the same Skills Requirements: Bachelors /Master Degree in chemical engineering with 3-5 years relevant experience in operating pilot plants will be essential and preferred. Ability to work in Shift operation on all weekdays Ability to wear a half and full-face mask as well as self-contained breathing apparatus.
