Rijeka Gateway d.o.o. (RGW), a joint venture between APM Terminals and ENNA Logic, is undertaking a significant capital greenfield project, the development of the Rijeka Gateway Terminal, in Rijeka, Croatia. The goal of the project is to both construct and start-up the new container terminal for the shareholders, as well as expand the business value and proposition for the entire region and hinterland for the main customer, Maersk. The scope of the project entails on one side the delivery of the physical assets (civil, equipment, automation and IT works), and on the other side the start-up of the operational business, ready to run a viable operating terminal business from day one of operational go live. We are looking for the next Automation Engineer for Rijeka Gateway. Reportin to the IT manager, you will work closely connected to IT as well as Equipment area and in the future Asset Maintenance department. You will contribute to the design, execution, and validation of the Automation implementation and technology integration based on APMT standard solutions and Terminal Operational requirements. In this role you will also develop and deploy RGW terminal-specific processes, interfaces, and applications. Responsibilities: Contribute to lead Automation implementation / validation in line with the Technical / Technology Integration Framework and Functional Requirements. Ensure proper definition of technical interface specifications for Equipment, Civil, IT Systems. Ensure proper integration of Automation vendor Engineering solution into the overall Terminal Engineering documentation. Coordinate Automation Vendors during design, testing, installation activities, and required modifications after the handover. Ensure Automation systems and related documentation comply with contractual requirements, local standard and regulations (with special care to safety-instrumented functions). Test and validate Automation systems both at Vendor Facility and at Terminal with special care for final Performance, Safety and Integration with third party system. Define and implement recommend corrective actions and projects to increase productivity, efficiency, quality, and safety. Leading Simulation/Emulation activities with internal and external counterparts ensure smooth commissioning and start of operations in line with the Technical / Technology Integration Framework. Define and run test cases to validate overall Terminal performance and specific Systems based on contractual requirements and operation requirements. Configure, test and maintain automation systems.. Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Experience: Requires at least 3 years of experience in Industrial Automation System Design and Testing project handling/coordination experience is a plus Proven ability to establish and maintain automation and process documentation (functional requirements, test cases, wiring diagrams etc.). International Standards and Local Regulations basic knowledge (mainly IEC Standards / CE directives). Familiarity with Port Equipment/Processes or moving machinery is a plus. Knowledge in simulation and emulation platforms (e.g., Matlab) and related output documentation is a plus. Skills: Team player. Excellent communication skills, where a good level of English is a must. Knowing Croatian is an advantage. High discipline – following through on actions and ensuring necessary documentation. Sensitive to cultural diversity and experience in a multicultural environment, regarding colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
