Your journey starts as a Data Engineer based at our Port Kembla manufacturing site in NSW, our Mascot office in NSW or our Mount Waverley office in Victoria.We've been on a journey over the last few years to enhance our in-house IT capability - and our Data Analytics team are proud of the increased service level we now offer our business.What Will You Do?As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in focusing on the BlueScope business reporting and analytics initiatives. This role is critical to building the data assets that result in driving business value from our data and enabling data-driven decision making. Be part of a collaborative team supporting our Australian Steel Products business by turning data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions. The Data Engineer is responsible for building, managing and optimising data pipelines and then moving these data pipelines into production for key data and analytics consumers.This role requires a combination of business focus, strong analytical and problem-solving skills and some programming knowledge to leverage machine learning and other data-driven techniques.Each day you will play an integral part in lifting the data maturity and capability of the organisation by:Designing, creating and maintaining secure data pipelines and data assets with end-to-end development and implementation of data collection, consolidation and modelling activitiesAnalysis of business requirements with the view to deliver outcomes through data mining and data wranglingDeveloping managed data pipelines through a series of zones or stages within a data lakeImplementing and managing data security protocols, ensuring data assets are not accessed or corrupted by unauthorised usersUse innovative and modern tools, techniques and architectures to partially or completely automate the data preparation and integration tasks within data asset pipelinesWorking with various stakeholders including external service providersMore About YouWe don’t expect you to know our industry or our business, we have an internal network to support your learning that, it’s your knowledge of Data Engineering that we would like to support and develop.
