About the Role
As a technician, you will be responsible for the installation, technical support, and troubleshooting for a range of hardware equipment, systems, infrastructure, or machinery within the organization. Your role is crucial in ensuring availability, reliability, and optimal performance of various technologies and equipment.
Responsibilities
Equipment Installation and Maintenance:
o Install, configure necessary equipment as per site/ client / project requirements.
o Troubleshoot and resolve any hardware and connectivity issues.
Cable Infrastructure Management:
o Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber-optic cabling systems, including twisted-pair, and
multi-mode/single-mode fiber cables.
o Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for cable management,
labeling, and dressing.
o Conduct test to ensure proper function of equipment and systems.
o Maintain accurate records of cable runs and connections.
Rack and Cabinet Installation:
o Assemble and install server racks, cabinets, and enclosures according to manufacturer
specifications and data center layout designs.
o Organize and manage the layout of equipment within racks to optimize airflow, accessibility,
and space utilization and implement cable management solutions to minimize cable clutter
Power Distribution and Cooling Management:
o Install and maintain power distribution units (PDUs), power cords, and other power-related
infrastructure components.
o Ensure proper cooling and temperature control for equipment with proper air flow direction.
o Implement and maintain efficient energy management practices.
Server Room Security:
o Enforce and monitor access control policies for the customer / project workspace especially
in data center environments.
o Maintain the physical security of server rooms and equipment.
o Coordinate with security personnel to address any breaches or concerns.
Documentation and Reporting
o Maintain detailed documentation related to the site activities.
Emergency Response:
o Respond to and resolve hardware and infrastructure emergencies promptly.
o Collaborate with relevant teams during critical incidents.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with other technicians and relevant teams.
o Share knowledge and expertise to facilitate problem solving.
Health and Safety Compliance:
o Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines as instructed by the business and at customer /
Project premises.
o Identify and report any safety hazards or concerns.
o Contribute to the development and implementation of safety procedures.
Any other tasks as requested by the management********Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent. Technical certificates are a plus.
Proven experience in a technician role or related field is preferred.
Familiarity with relevant technologies, equipment, or systems.
Strong problem – solving and analytical skills.
Proficiency in using copper and fiber cable testing and diagnostic tools such as cable testers,
OTDRs, and power meters.
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
