You have the power to shape things and individuals to make them better. About the Role: Are you an experienced engineer with a background in brownfield mining projects? We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Capital Projects team on an initial 12 month contract working across a portfolio of brownfield projects including a new reclaimer, residue filtration plant and residue area. Working closely with the Project Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for driving fit-for-purpose solutions and ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering outcomes for the project. This is a project-based role that involves collaboration with construction, commissioning, and asset owner teams. Key Responsibilities: Define and challenge project and engineering scopes to ensure they are fit for purpose. Prepare scope documents for the execution of engineering services. Lead or support the management of engineering deliverables through third-party providers. Maximize value from Engineering Service Providers (ESPs) by proactive monitoring of performance and reducing variations. Assist in the preparation of operational readiness deliverables. Ensure engineering design quality through experience and adherence to standards. Ensure compliance with specifications and minimize excess scope items. Prepare responses to contractor technical queries within contractual time targets. Maximize re-usability of engineering design. Assist and validate in the construction, commissioning, and handover phases of the project. Core Activities include: Engineering and Design: Contribute to safe, timely, cost-effective, and technically sound designs. Maximize design re-usability to reduce future costs. Ensure project design alignment with specifications and contracts. Design Management: Align design plans with project phases and optimize deliverables before design begins. Manage the design change process and ensure design deliverables are returned. Contribute to operational readiness by reviewing spares, maintainability, and operational costs. Safety and Environment: Consider safe construction methodologies during the design phase. Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment processes. Contribute to a total safety culture within the Capital Group. Technology Standards: Apply current best technology and standards to design and maintainability. Ensure compliance with Engineering Standards and Statutory Regulations. Procurement Contracting: Manage engineering consistent with specifications and contracts. Review, assess, and prepare engineering specifications. Ensure alignment of engineering deliverables with overall procurement plan and contracts. Construction, Commissioning, and Handover: Assist in developing construction plans and ensuring constructability of the design. Monitor cost impact related to construction-initiated design changes. Define and ensure required as-builts are completed and returned. What’s on offer: This position is based on an initial12 month contract/secondment What you can bring to the role: To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with: Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering Experienced in working in a brownfields project environment. Background in reclaimer or mining associated projects. Design execution and management, contract management, construction quality control, and commissioning support. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external to Alcoa.
