The Principal Rail Engineer role will contribute to delivery and management of project work while working with people. It provides technical leadership to professional and technical staff on complex, large scale projects that deliver high standard outcomes for AECOM clients. It is also involves regular liaison with clients and external stakeholders, The primary role involves taking lead and collaborating with other parties, to produce project deliverables to agreed scope, deadlines and standards.Provide high quality service to internal and/or external customers in all areas of responsibility.Effectively manage any personnel and resources within his/her team whilst acting as a package lead on a project.Lead production of deliverables in the areas of railway track and civil engineering and undertake deliverables planning, production, review and checking as required.Participate in inter-disciplinary design development and review processes and provide rail specific input to disciplines such as structures, civil, buildings and specialisms such as system engineering, noise and vibration, interface studies.Promote innovation and ensure the best engineering practices and design tools are applied.Assist in the development of colleagues by applying high level of technical skill.Develop and maintain client relationships at the project level and broader AECOM organisational level.Contribute to bid preparation and bid management for medium and large opportunities if and when required.About YouBroad knowledge of various engineering elements of a fully functional railway, including electrified passenger railway and/or pit to port heavy haul railway. This includes understanding of typically constrained rail corridors and space proofing of various elements within, interfaces and interactions with key disciplines such as stations, yards, terminals, maintenance facilities, OLE, signalling, communication and rolling stock and external stakeholders.In-depth experience of various types of track forms and specific elements of permanent way structure will be highly regarded.Rail project experience in the various stages from feasibility studies, detailed design delivery, handover to operations and asset maintenance.Demonstrated contribution to the delivery of successful railway related projects.Communication skills – clear written and oral communication, able to communicate at all levels.Excellent analytic and problem solving skills.Innovative thinking and ability to influence others for change
