The School of Mechanical Aerospace Engineering (MAE) welcome applications for a Research Engineer II position on Autonomous Flight Controls at the eVTOL Research and Innovation Centre located at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The appointment is full-time and is funded for 1 year with the possibility of another year of extension. The selected candidate will join a vibrant and dynamic research group, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to work on the following: Key Responsibilities: Assist in developing an autonomous control framework development for an eVTOL platform. Assist teams in seamlessly integrating control algorithms into different hardware architectures. Extend control-centric ideas to localization, path planning, and path optimization regimes. Develop a learning-based controller framework for disturbance rejection and faults. Real-time implementation of control on an eVTOL system. Job Requirements: Masters Degree in the field of Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering with a major emphasis in the domain of Control, Automation, and/or Robotics. Excellent knowledge of control programming involving Nonlinear Systems and Control theory, Observer Design, Machine Learning, and Neural Networks, and Model Predictive Control. Sound coding skills in C/C++, MATLAB, Python. Excellent knowledge in using Simulink is a must. Excellent knowledge of ROS2 and Gazebo. Excellent knowledge in implementing control strategies of real-time multi-rotors and Pixhawk flight stack is Mandatory. Proficient in using machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow and Keras. Good English writing and communication skills (required). Excellent knowledge on localization algorithms and sensors. Knowledge of computer vision is preferred.
