Join our robust T-32 Cardiovascular Research Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute and embark on a fulfilling career in cardiovascular research. We provide comprehensive training to PhD and physician investigators who are passionate about translating basic and clinical research into the practice of cardiovascular medicine.

Our fellowship program focuses on three key components: education, mentorship, and hands-on research. Under the leadership of Dr. Eduardo Marban and Dr. Joshua I. Goldhaber, our program is supported by a team of over 20 principal investigators and support staff, ensuring a solid foundation for your training.

As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to select a principal investigator as your mentor, and will also be assigned a complimentary clinical or basic science mentor as part of our team-based mentoring system. Coursework in statistics, responsible conduct in research, and research methodology will be provided, based on your previous education. Throughout the program, you will engage in ongoing research in your mentor's laboratory, with the goal of submitting a career development award by the end of two years. Extensions may be granted based on productivity and research outcomes.

Many of our previous trainees have gone on to secure faculty positions in academic institutions or leadership roles in the industry, showcasing the success of our program and the opportunities it provides.

To be eligible for this fellowship, you should have an MD, MD/PhD, PhD, or equivalent degree. We are currently only accepting applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. PhD candidates should be within three years of receiving their degree, and MD candidates should be within one year of completing their clinical training.
