ARTWORK DESIGNER TRAINEE Location: Johannesburg, South Africa This position is a 12-month learnership comprising of work experience and a NQF Level training course. The learner must be between the age of 18 and 27 years old. Design Support Consultancy Services Artwork Designer Trainee, under supervision, presents Gemalto portfolio and provides recommendation to customers about card designs effects: Work with customer at the artwork preparation stage, propose alternatives in terms of integrating Gemalto manufacturing feasibility, Studio requirements and Schemes branding; Provide design recommendations and advice on potential effects for design enhancement, define artwork samples; Liaise with customers on regular basis via email tele-conversation; travel to customer premises; inform them about latest updates in Gemalto requirements and Scheme regulations; Support customers in files’ conversion and potential additional amendments; Present to customers the Gemalto portfolio of products, innovative plastics, effects and options. Design Studio Services Artwork Designer Trainee checks customers’ artworks and prepares them for the Studio: Check design input files according to Gemalto printing and production capabilities and with Payment Schemes branding guidelines; Integrate artworks into Gemalto standardized graphical templates, provide executable files and synchronize customer’s expectations with Studio. New Design Services Artwork Designer Trainee provides new card designs for customers: Create a new artwork design based on the customer’s Design Creative Brief and Branding guidelines; Create from scratch the printing files from the sample, provided by the customer, integrating Gemalto printing conditions to match the sample card as closely as possible. Thales Teams Relationship Artwork Designer Trainee maintains all interfaces with the respective Gemalto BPS teams, actively builds and maintains good working relationships, provides necessary support for: Answer Sales Team’s questions about artworks feasibility, Studio and Scheme requirements; Design consultancy support during Sales’ meetings with customers by presenting Gemalto Portfolio and during design conceptualization; Guidance to CS Team during interactions with customers on artworks feasibility and expert support on the Studio requests; Provide to the Studio teams executable files, explain customer’s expectations about final result and discuss alternative options; facilitate communication with Sales and CS about Studio and Scheme requirements; Liaise with the Product Marketing Team regarding the Gemalto Portfolio, provide feedback and requests from customers about innovative card bodies and effects, support in design creation for new Gemalto products; Effectively manage relationships with other Gemalto BPS teams regarding artwork designers’ duties and responsibilities.
