About the Global Head of Health Safety Position Join us in driving a global safety culture and framework across our global operations to improve our performance and drive business results. About The Role The Global Head of Health Safety (HS) leads and champions FLSmidth’s Global HS strategy programme. As the Global Head of Health Safety you are responsible to develop and operationalize a global safety strategy as a business enabler and execute this across our global manufacturing and service center operations, sites, and in collaboration with our customers for professional service assignments. In addition, you will further develop our product safety programme together with our global product line managers. Using your expertise and experience with global safety programmes from high-risk and heavy machinery industries, you will be working with a central team of specialists, HS specialists working around the world, global manufacturing managers and regional presidents to develop and implement global safety programmes and realize improvements in culture and performance. You will oversee the HS reporting, incident responses and drive a global safety culture. While focusing on standards and procedures – including relevant ISO certifications, you will act as a visible leader across all areas of the business. You will use a data-driven and a people-centric approach in your direction setting. About The Department The Head of HS is a member of our global sustainability team, which is a part of the People Sustainability organization. Key responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop, update and operationalize a global HS strategy across our global operations and through the matrix structure, aligned with the company's long-term ambition of ‘ zero harm’. Build a global blueprint for a world-class safety organization in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders including mining customers. Work with our global and regional operations by providing expertise and leadership that will engage the operational leaders in driving the culture of safety and compliance throughout the company. Operational safety improvements Implement key performance indicators, leading and lagging, and corresponding key priorities. Develop global HS programmes. Implement standards and drive continuous improvements against our HS short- and long-term targets. Specifically work with our manufacturing centers, service centers and professional services to improve our current safety performance. Identify areas for improvement and develop and execute technical improvement projects. Safety reporting Improve robustness of safety-reporting through improvement systems, compliance and awareness activities. Establish processes to ensure that accident reporting is completed in a diligent manner, and that serious accidents are thoroughly investigated, recommendations made, and preventative measures are implemented and shared across the globe. Employ a data-driven approach to investigate root causes for safety incidents. Safety Leadership Communication and Engagement Drive a visible, global communication programme to improve our safety culture and employee participation across all levels of the organization. Embed a global training and upskilling programme across all operations. Safety Risk Management and (Crisis) Response Develop and maintain a safety and crisis management plan, as well as business continuity plans to ensure the company's ability to respond effectively to health and safety incidents and emergencies. Product Safety Oversight Oversee product safety initiatives, ensuring that our engineering solutions and products meet all relevant safety standards and regulations. Health Initiate, develop and implement a global health strategy, focusing on physical and mental well-being. Leverage best practices from global corporate leaders in this field. What You Bring +10 years' work experience with Health Safety. Proven track of developing and implementing global safety programmes and demonstrated improvements in culture and performance (ex. reducing TRIFR and LTIFR). Experience working with HS at a tier -1 mining company or from heavy machinery industry. Strong change management skills. Proven experience managing HS organizations internationally. Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills. Experience with professional cultural transformation and development. Global experience and mindset. Relevant academic degree and excellent English skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Results-oriented and able to work cross functionally in a large and complex organization. Proactive, hands-on, pragmatic approach. Change oriented and decisive – an including and natural trustworthy leader with respect for the existing culture.
