The officer will be part of the core team that is responsible for the policy, strategic and operational planning and implementation of Singapore’s international digital connectivity in the area of submarine cables. This is a critical pillar of building a world-leading, future-ready and secure digital infrastructure for Singapore that powers our digital economy. Responsibilities: Lead or conduct policy and strategy development and review of telecom submarine cable policies and implementation, including reviews and planning of submarine cable demand and land/sea resource availability, and international engagement policies Operationalise and implement submarine cable policy frameworks, including submarine cable landing reviews and approvals, international legislative framework reviews, and bilateral and multilateral engagements Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate deployment of submarine cables – this include engaging and collaborating with other government agencies in the planning of land/sea resources, protection of cables and international engagements; as well as engaging submarine cable industry in the approvals and landing of submarine cables. Initiate investigation or enforcement actions against licensees for potential contravention of submarine cable regulatory frameworks. Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Business, or related-areas. Minimum 4 years of experience and those with prior experience in the infocomm industry, and/or knowledge of regulatory concepts and frameworks would be an advantage.
