[What the role is] As a tax professional, you have tax knowledge at your fingertips and the heart to build a socially-responsible taxpaying community. Your mark of insight on tax services which are transformational. [What you will be working on] You will conduct audits on taxpayers suspected to be involved in the Missing Trader Fraud. You will be responsible for: Identifying audit issues and performing audit verification of GST returns Gathering information and analyzing transactions across the supply chain to identify any fraudulent arrangement Interviewing taxpayers and other related persons to establish whether they were participating in a fraudulent arrangement Sense-making of third party information using digital compliance tools to corroborate with other evidence to identify inconsistencies in taxpayer’s representations Preparing reports and submissions on audit findings on taxpayers in the supply chain and recommending actions to be taken on non-compliant taxpayers Dealing with taxpayers’ objections to the Comptroller’s decision Working closely with colleagues across IRAS to coordinate joint criminal and civil actions, including planning and participating in joint operations and preparing submissions to support IRAS’ position. [What we are looking for] Minimum 3 years of experience working in compliance and audit functions Experience in working on fraud-related cases would be an advantage Basic knowledge of accounting and GST Good writing, communication and negotiation skills Analytical and logical thinking Meticulous and detail oriented Strong ability to question and probe Resourceful and able to work independently in a team environment The Singapore Public Service plays a key role in the economic growth, progress and stability of Singapore by formulating and implementing government policies, as well as providing key public services.
