As a result of a significant project pipeline and exciting development within the Hydrogen and future fuels space, AECOM’s Resources and Industrial Business in Adelaide has an opportunity for a Senior to Principal level Mechanical and/or Process Engineer to drive quality technical outcomes for a series of active and future fuel and traditional fuel projects across the resources, government mining sectors for AECOM’s valued Clients.Specifically, this opportunity will require significant technical leadership across new energy installations, with the ability to provide fuel infrastructure advisory services and to also generate designs from planning concept through to execution. Experience with transient surge analysis within fuel installations will be seen as particularly favourable although not essential.This is an engineering consulting role that will influence outcomes with our clients across the areas of mining, industrial, Defence, maritime, aviation and large vehicle refuelling and bulk fuel storage with a particular focus on clean fuels. Additionally supplementary skills in traditional hydrocarbon fuels storage and delivery is desirable with a strong existing pipeline across a number of key clients delivering work at terminals and storage facilities across Australia.The Principal Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering/technical oversight to the wider team, with the expectation that you will be a focal point for the client and AECOM design team. You will be hands on in the development of engineering design documentation and construction phase technical support for new-build, upgrading and refurbishment of bulk fuel infrastructure.The role will also provide an opportunity to mentor junior AECOM team members throughout ANZ and to help build on the existing capability in the clean fuel and Defence sectors within the business. As an RPEQ and Chartered Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical verification of work products and will provide innovation during master-planning with our clients to ensure the quality solution is delivered on time, every time.Support locally will be provided with the ANZ Future Fuels lead located in Adelaide in addition to the broader R+I team working across mining, industrial, new energy and government sectors. This is an exciting opportunity at the forefront of the energy transition in a collaborative and supportive team who prioritise team culture.About You Ability to develop concept designs from scratch without supervision, ensuring innovation is at the forefront of all early discussionsExperience in developing engineering designs within defence and hazardous areas associated with traditional fuels or across clean fuel installations and feasibility studiesA minimum of 8-10 years+ experience in the field described aboveExperience managing Design/Engineering/Consulting projectsStrong oral and written communication skillsBulk Fuel Engineering Design Experience for Defence, mining, industrial sectorsDefence Security Clearance or ability to obtain sameStrong industry networks with the ability to generate new leadsAn effective leader with tenacity and drive to achieve outstanding results.
