We are seeking an experimentation focused data scientist to be part of our effort to build best-in-class experimentation capability and practice. The Client Experience and Digital (CXD) Data Science team plays a critical role in consulting, influencing, and driving changes to deliver such client experience. Our Data Scientists are at the forefront of innovation by leveraging a wide range of AI/ML techniques to design and implement solutions that deepen the understanding of Vanguard clients, inform strategic planning, and optimize business decisioning as well as operational processes. Experimentation is at the core of our data driven learning agenda. In this role, we are looking for someone to be part of our effort to build best-in-class experimentation capability and practice. The ideal candidate comes with extensive experience designing and analyzing various types of experiments such as A/B/n, multi-variate, MAB, and quasi-experiments, or with a strong background in statistics and desire to become an experimentation expert. Core Responsibilities Develop deep understanding of CXD data sources. Leverage big data platforms and programming skills to access and prepare data for analytical consumption. Research, develop, and implement advanced experimentation solutions, including choosing the appropriate modeling methods to maximize the value of experiment results, to support data-driven business decision making. Provide statistical consultation service to product teams. Serve as the experimentation expert on cross functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contribute to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community. Prepare and deliver insight presentations and action recommendations. Communicate complex findings and implications to business leaders. Stay abreast with development in the AI/ML community with an experimentation focus through training and self-development. Understand and comply with Vanguard’s model governance policies and procedures. Contribute to the continuous evolution of model governance best practices. Mentor and develop junior data scientists and analysts. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of three years’ work experience with data wrangling and AI/ML model development. MS or Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a STEM field. Or undergraduate degree in such fields with proven track record of learning and self-development. Proficiency with Python and SQL.
