This is an opportunity to be part of the Regeneration of the Raynesway Nuclear Licensed Site. This once in a lifetime major infrastructure programme is replacing the current facilities with modern state of the art manufacturing capability. Our Submarines Business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. We support the Royal Navy as the Technical Authority for all UK Naval Reactor Submarine Plants, and we're continuing to build our nuclear sector capability to support the development of a new nuclear plant for future submarines. Reporting to the engineering manager, you will provide specialist advice on radioactive waste matters, including a leading role in Best Available Technique assessments and supporting the project roadmap to EPR permit application. You will be responsible for the development of waste processes and meeting our environmental commitments. You will need to be someone who can work with and influence engineers from other disciplines so that environmental engineering is an integral part of the overall engineering solution. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week What you will be doing: You will ensure development of facilities and processes in compliance with statutory guidance, relevant licence and permit conditions,transport legislation, and integration of supporting management arrangements. Ensure development of facilities and processes in compliance with other regulatory and ‘best practice’ requirements Advise on the development of systems and specifications for disposal of waste via appropriate radioactive and ‘out of scope’ routes. Checks and critical review of the site’s radioactive waste discharges. Understand and support the development of waste management processes in line with extant Waste Management Arrangements and site constraints. Liaison with stakeholders including regulators, internal teams, and radioactive waste management supply chain. Ensure that Guidance on Release from Radioactive Substances Regulation is applied throughout the project lifecycle. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
