Job Description: Job Title Investment Bank LATAM - COO Corporate Title Director Location New York, NY Overview The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Investment Bank (IB) - LATAM will report to the IB Americas COO in setting strategy and aligning resources accordingly, in continuously improving the control environment, and enabling the development of fit-for-purpose infrastructure. The position holder is responsible for Administration, Control, Business Management and Change Management for the LATAM IB business. This position focuses on various day to day aspects of the Businesses including Strategic Planning, Business Management, People Management, Marketing, Control effectiveness, Conduct and Change Management. fosters continuous improvement of division’s operations, including systems and operational infrastructure; manages, controls, and administers COO budget, review cost allocations, resources, and planning/ forecasting processes in accordance to group standards Accountable for non-compensation expense management, and for performing administrative tasks to Group Standards; accountable for ensuring effective implementation of key people processes (e.g., promotion, succession, and compensation processes) Manage the risk and control strategy for the LATAM Investment Bank group, ensuring oversight of audit related topics and that appropriate policies, processes and resources for non-financial risk management are in place; regulatory coordination; is accountable for implementing internal policies and external regulatory and statutory frameworks Define/oversee major programs, tracks execution of projects, initiatives, and programs; acts as a point of liaison for areas outside Investment Bank to co-ordinate on execution of major projects; performs (directly or through delegation) supervisory duties through the established supervisory framework; while assuring an escalation line to the Head of the Investment Bank Americas and Global COO; ensures that the Business heads and Global COO are notified of any actions, decisions or issues that may have a material impact on the LATAM IB business regionally or globally Interface to core infrastructure and risk functions as well as other businesses and Americas regional management; supports central coordination and leadership of cross-divisional and/ or cross-functional regulatory and control initiatives in the region, ensuring coordination and providing conflict resolution where necessary Provides advice and support to division’s/function’s senior management and other functions with respect to area of expertise, including but not limited to human resources, the control environment, and compliance with regulatory initiatives; supports and contributes to business initiatives, including people development, diversity, and corporate social responsibility activities; supports the division’s and Group’s external communication and brand strategy, including oversight of LATAM marketing How You’ll Lead Sets clear direction for the team in line with overall business strategy balancing both global and regional priorities; manages performance systemically by considering delivery, behavior and conduct in equal measure, setting and communicating clear role expectations and qualitative and quantitative priorities, promoting individual accountability and removing impediments to success; ensures team members have regular and meaningful performance and career development discussions giving and listening to feedback; holds direct reports accountable for systems, processes and control management practices which are efficient, cost-effective and in line with Bank standards and regulatory expectations; ensures team decision-making processes are timely and place precedence on long-term considerations and client needs over the short term Ensures each direct report has sufficient time and skills to perform the correspondent role and proactively manages and mitigates potential conflicts of interests; proactively manages performance and business practices to ensure alignment with the Bank's goals, values and code of conduct and is clear on how to take action to ensure appropriate positive outcomes and negative consequences for individual employees Builds capability for the future by prioritizing succession planning, continuous development of people and the mobility of high potentials within the team; brings diverse teams together to collaborate on topics to achieve optimal ideas and recommendations; creates an inclusive, open and speak up culture where team members are encouraged to express views and raise concerns; acts as an escalation channel ensuring matters are referred to the appropriate function within the Bank (i.e. Human Resorces, Compliance, Anti-Financial Crime, Legal) Skills You’ll Need Advanced strategy planning experience focused on the investment bank in the LATAM region Proven experience as a business manager and/or COO capacity fostering continuous improvement of operations and infrastructure in investment banking Advanced experience managing controls environment, resource planning, and business forecasting Proven experience designing and leading change management programs, tracking execution and measuring success Advanced experience in a supervisory capacity and implementing supervisory framework Proven management experience setting direction for overall business strategy Skills That Will Help You Excel Bilingual Spanish required Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field. Graduate degree preferred Ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a heavily matrixed environment Ability to liaise with senior leadership in areas inside and outside of the investment bank Advanced knowledge of MS Office suite of products Expectations It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York, NY office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model. The salary range for this position in New York City is $190K to $300K. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
