Job Description Rockwell Automation’s AI Center of Excellence in Austin, Texas has a position available for a data scientist with strong software development background. The candidate is expected to design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions that enable the use of vision as a sensory input for closed loop operation in applications of interest to Rockwell Automation. The candidate must be able to optimize software and memory footprint of the AI/ML solution on targeted edge devices and create intuitive user interfaces for the solution. Essential Functions Develop and deploy end-to-end AI/ML solutions and architectures (including data extraction, algorithm development, control system integration and GUI). Create and execute required test scenarios/plans to ensure complete testing of AI/ML solution and its components Architect AI/ML solution for integration with real-time control loop in Industrial Automation applications. Collaborates with product owners and stakeholders to ensure alignment of AI/ML architecture with business priorities Proactively monitor industry trends and identify opportunities to implement new technologies Help create a culture of openness, honesty, and transparency Build strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Preferred Qualifications M.Sc. of Ph.D in Engineering, Physics or Computer Science preferred Typically requires 2+ years of related experience Familiarity with PyTorch and OpenCV especially in conjunction with deployment at the edge (Nvidia Orin/Jetson, Arduino, ...) Programming background with languages such as Python, JavaScript. Aptitude to quickly learn new programming language as need arises. Familiarity with automation applications (especially where vision is used as a sensory input) Background in one or more of the following disciplines: electrical engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, data science.
