We need people who dare to think differently – to take part in developing tomorrow’s energy solutions today. , Philippines Job Family Group: Finance Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: December 13, 2022 Business unit: Finance Experience Level: Early Careers Job Description: The FO Energy Risk and Accounting (ERA) process is primarily responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of the Downstream and Trading gross margin and working capital (inventory, accounts receivable, accounts payable) – covering various activities as manual price maintenance, inventory recording and reconciliation, refinery mass balance and gain/loss analysis, inventory valuation, and billing and settlement of all hydrocarbon purchase, sales, and exchange transactions. It is an agile and evolving organization having proximity to various business growth and Energy Transition as well as changing business needs across different Shell businesses. Senior Analyst Role will be part of Trading Settlements and Accounting (TSA) Team in Manila supporting the Products business of the North America region (e.g. US, Canada) -- managing sales billing, purchase settlements, debt chasing, hydrocarbon accounting, and reporting analysis. The processes are complex, time critical, and involves working closely with a diverse set of business partners and finance processes – traders, commercial operators and schedulers, trading operations support, indirect tax, FO Data, and RA. This role will be primarily responsible in processing commodity invoices on a daily basis to complete the settlements activities of STUSCO Products line of business. Individual is expected to work collaboratively with the team in ensuring settlements activities are completed end to end on time, accurately. In addition, he/she will also cover emissions accounting in compliance with US EPA Renewable Fuel Standards (RFS). Principal Accountabilities Responsible for ensuring On-time and Accurate Invoice processing (as determined by contractual terms and in compliance with Shell Control Framework), highly driven by First Time Right Attitude. Actively resolve vendor disputes in compliance with agreed turnaround time. Ensure process KPI targets are achieved, with appropriate reasoning for non-achievement. Ability to analyze and drive issue resolution; take over identified actions and different type of requests from stakeholders. Ensure timely escalation of issues as required. Ensure all required reports are accurately updated. Manage risks associated with 3rd party settlements. Develop an effective working relationship with all business partners and stakeholders. Provide information and explain all the concerns on the process/Control Framework to internal and external auditors including facilitation of the walkthrough meetings. Ability to identify and contribute to process improvements and simplification. Specific to Emissions Accounting, below are the accountabilities: Identify, analyze and reduce the RIN expiries Remove/reduce the manual workarounds in LCFS / RINS space Partner with feeder processes to sustainably improve End to End process. Ensure compliance to RFS by maintaining the records of the transactions processed - for any EPA, SIA or External Audit Key Challenges Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively across all cultures both within the organisation and with external counterparties. Proven ability to effectively challenge whilst remaining customer focused and exhibiting commercial mindset. Strong accounting knowledge to understand the flow of entries in the End-to=End Accounts Payable Process. Skills and Experiences Degree/Professional Qualification in Accounting / Finance 1-2 work experience in various financial positions, with experience of applying accounting, process and controls principles in practice. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a short turn-around time involving complexities and competing priorities. Proven ability to work pro-actively and with minimum supervision. Good awareness of underlying business, financial and fiscal issues with respect to energy/commodity trading and shipping. Work Schedule US business hours coverage is expected to be provided all throughout the month with a routine shift time of 6PM-3AM. But with potential requirement to transition to night shift (8PM to 5AM).
